What is Lighting in a Paintcan?

What started out as a fun idea to get both artists and the local community involved in LIB is turning out to have massive potential. Lightning in a Paintcan will be back this year with more large murals and more fundraising for local art schools in need. Last year LIB and Sonic Muze raised $1500 for the Santa Ynez High Schools art and music education. This year we intent to raise much more...

 

Here's how it works:
Scattered throughout the trees of our forest playground will be dozens of large panels that will be transformed into a live mural project, to be created using 100% used and recycled paint.

Some of our favorite galleries and collectives will be sending artists to participate. If you're a mural painter you can participate too! paintcan@thedolab.com

The final pieces will be sold at a silent auction held on Monday, May 26th and all proceeds will go to benefit Sonic Muze, who in turn supports the creative minds of children.

Hosted at a festival that seeks to implement and promote environmental sustainability, created in a non-wasteful way, and designed to support the education of the next generation of artists and creative spirits, the theme for this live art collaboration is Sustainability. We can't wait to see all the ways in which these talented artists will redefine this vision, and encourage all to help support arts education by bidding on a mural!!
